HARROGATE, Tennessee, March 1, 2019 — The J. Frank White Academy (JFWA), located on the main campus of Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) in Harrogate, Tennessee, is now accepting applications for all grades for the 2019-2020 school year.
“The Academy has a tradition of preparing students for college and beyond,” said JFWA Interim Principal Bobby Lockhart. “We are proud that we can now offer our unique benefits to students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.”
The Academy is a college preparatory school accredited by AdvancEd. JFWA offers small class sizes and access to LMU facilities and resources including the Carnegie-Vincent Library, Tex Turner Arena, advanced science labs, dining hall and athletic fields. Since its founding in 1989, the Academy has boasted a 100 percent college placement rate. Academy students have surpassed state and national average scores on standardized tests such as the ACT.
JFWA occupies two buildings near the LMU Quadrangle. Historic Farr-Chinnock Hall, which was renovated to include advanced learning technology and updated classroom facilities in 2013, houses grades four through 12. Renovations are under way at nearby Kresge Hall to accommodate the lower school grades including kindergarten through third grade. Once completed, the updated Kresge Hall will feature an all-purpose space with adjoining prep area to be utilized for lunches so younger pupils do not have to leave their learning space during the day. Additionally, outdoor play equipment will be installed adjacent to the building and traffic will be routed around the building for safe arrivals and dismissals.
The elementary school curriculum will prepare students for educational opportunities in the future. JFWA will carefully balance the rigorous demands of a college preparatory school curriculum with the unique needs of young learners, all in a safe and secure environment.
Tuition at JFWA includes lunches and up to 30 credit hours of college coursework for junior and senior level students who meet requirements. Tuition rates are tiered by grade level and monthly payment plans are available. After-school enrichment and some transportation are also available for an additional fee.
Along with the excellent curriculum, JFWA offers a full range of athletic programs, extracurricular organizations and educational travel experiences, including numerous field trips and educational opportunities outside the classroom.
