Dr. Carucci presented two music research and pedagogy posters at the 2014 International Society of Music Education Biennial Conference, in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Woodwind trio performed at the Clinch-Powell Science Fair.

Brass ensemble performed at the Pinning ceremony for the School of Allied Health.

Piano and voice students and faculty performed at the Piano Dedication recital for the university’s new Yamaha Cable Nelson Baby Grand Piano in the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center in Spring 2014.
The LMU Concert Band hosted their first annual Honors Band Invitational on April 4-5, 2014. 

The LMU Music Program hosted the first annual Spring Choral Workshop for high school students in April 2014 with guest clinician Dr. Melinda Doyle.

Dr. Carucci presented improvisation and saxophone clinics at the Governor’s School of the Arts in Danville, KY.

LMU Music Program students performed in the Spring 2014 musical Godspell.

Piano, voice, and instrumental students perform at the LMU Awards Ceremony in Spring 2014.

Dr. Carucci performed as a guest artist with the Stephen Foster Camp Wind Ensemble at the Grande Finale Concert in June 2014.

Dr. Carucci performed l’Appel du Vide for alto saxophone by Michael Smith at the Society of Composers, Inc. Southeast Regional Conference on October 18th, 2013.

Mission Statement

The music program seeks to prepare students for careers as professional performers and music educators. This preparation is accomplished by fostering of discipline, responsibility, pride, and personal fulfillment in the pursuit of musical excellence. We are actively involved in carrying out the mission of the university by presenting concerts, recitals, and related events that enrich the cultural life of the region. We offer a variety of performing ensembles featuring students and community members. Our goal is to encourage appreciation and lifelong learning in the performing arts.

Entrance Requirements

All students must first meet the requirements of Lincoln Memorial University. For consideration as a music major or minor, the student must demonstrate a sufficient level of aptitude by completing a live audition.

Prospective students should contact the program director to arrange an interview and audition with the appropriate faculty.

Music Program Description

Our dedicated LMU music faculty provides personalized attention so that you will acquire the best possible academic and artistic preparation. Students have the option of pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Music degree with an emphasis in either music performance or music education. A student who chooses to focus on music education will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a K-12 music teaching licensure.  Students may also choose to minor in music. We offer a variety of performing ensembles, academic music courses, and provide applied individual lessons in piano, voice, guitar, brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.

Students enrolled in the LMU Music Program gain important skills such as leadership, time management, organization, and communication-- traits which are necessary to succeed in any career or graduate program after LMU.  The music faculty believes in fostering a well-rounded musician with strong musical skills, motivation, and character. 

Ensemble Description

The LMU Music Program is actively involved in carrying out the mission of the university by presenting concerts, recitals, and related events that enrich the cultural life of the region.  We offer a variety of performing ensembles featuring students and community members.  Our Concert Band, Concert Choir, and Pep Band represent the core ensembles of our program.  They give our music majors and minors the opportunity to experience a high quality ensemble atmosphere while preparing and performing challenging music.  Students can gain additional ensemble experience by participating in the Rock Ensemble, Tri-State Community Chorus, musicals, and various chamber vocal and instrumental ensembles.

Music Minor

Do you have a passion for performing, listening to, and sharing music?  Have you considered a minor in music?  When paired with another major from LMU, the music minor can create many career options and give you the skills to pursue your passion for music your entire life.  The music faculty assists each student in discovering how music can enhance your future career options and marketability.  With the individual attention each music student receives at LMU, a graduate with a minor in music has the opportunity to explore possible career paths in music therapy, business, journalism, promotion, recording, and worship.

Scholarships are available for qualified students for both Concert Choir and Concert Band. These are entirely merit-based scholarships and will be appropriated based on the audition results.
