LMU Arts in the Gap will be hosting the J. Frank White Academy Student Art Show reception tomorrow, Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. Students in grades 4th-12th are exhibiting a body of work as a culminating event for the year. Instructor, Cindy Hankins-Koppel, EdS, promotes a STEaM-based art program that integrates cross curricula content and personal creativity. Students at the academy have explored the history of figurative and portraiture expression beginning with the Egyptian era through contemporary art. The integration of core content into the structure of the classroom allows the students to engage in developing critical thinking strategies to apply to artistic and written components of the program. The academy studio environment provides a learning atmosphere for individual and collaborative applications, to enable students to learn to respect and appreciate other’s perspectives. The exhibit which includes drawing, painting, ceramics and photography will exhibit from May 11th throughout the summer, until the end of July.
The LMU Center for the Arts houses the Art Program at LMU and is nestled in the historic town of Cumberland Gap, TN.
