Music Offerings for Summer Fine Arts Camp
The Music Program at Lincoln Memorial University is pleased to announce its offerings for the 2017 Fine Arts Camp at LMU. This engaging experience offers high school students the opportunity of studying music with the music faculty at LMU.
The beautiful main campus of LMU and the adjoining historic town of Cumberland Gap, TN are the perfect settings for a week of music rehearsal, practice, study, and performance. This one-week day camp, which includes workshops in Band, Choir, and Piano Performance, will culminate in a performance of the work on Friday, June 23rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Cumberland Gap Convention Center. (Participants must attend the full week of camp in order to perform.)
The camp is designed for rising freshman-through just graduated seniors in high school. The cost is $50 for commuting students and $75 for residential students including lunch, and some scholarships are available.
Instruction June 19-23rd, 9:30 a.m.-3:00p.m.
Public Performance: June 23rd 2:00 pm.
Campers will be able to hone their musical skills through a variety of music classes, individual lessons, master classes, and ensemble rehearsals, all culminating with a free and family-friendly performance at the end of the week.
Ensembles for campers will include large ensembles such as band and choir as well as mixed chamber ensembles.
One of the highlights of this year’s camp will be a residency by jazz artists The Rick Hirsch 4 from State College, PA. They will be performing their unique blend of pop, rock, jazz, and concert music and presenting clinics on inspiring musical creativity and “making music without a net.”
Any questions about the camp should be directed to Dr. James McAllister, Assistant Professor of Music and the Music Program Director at LMU at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The concert is free and open to the public.
